Wood, reclaimed wood and veneer are all susceptible to both weather and the elements. Follow these basic care tips to ensure the longevity of your furniture:

CLEANING: When using cleaning products, avoid wax-based products; Some of the best-known polishing products on the market contain wax and silicone that can build up on the table surface, creating a “cloudy” appearance. Please read the label and instructions carefully before applying a product to a wood or veneer surface. For daily cleaning, simply remove dust from your pieces with a soft, lint-free cloth or a feather duster. When more intense cleaning is required, wipe the surface with a damp (not wet) cloth or sponge and immediately follow with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.

DISCOLORING: Please note that water will stain wooden or veneered surfaces when left for a period of time, leaving a mark that can be much more difficult to correct. It is important to clean in the direction of the wood grain to avoid unsightly marks on the wood surface. Intense heat can cause changes to the wooden surface. Always use coasters, felt pads, pot rests or placemats to prevent heat and water from coming into direct contact with wooden surfaces; this contact may cause discoloration. Direct sunlight can darken or lighten wooden furniture slightly; move or rotate decorative objects regularly to avoid spots of light and shadow. Please note that based on frequency of use and storage, dining table leaves may change shade at a different rate than the table itself.

GENERAL CARE: Avoid placing your furniture in very humid or dry areas, such as directly next to air vents. Avoid contact with certain materials, such as rubber, which may react with your product’s finish: oil finishes can be renewed by rubbing a light application of penetrating oil with very fine steel wool and wiping with a soft, clean cloth to remove any excess oil.
